The Eldian king who owned Ymir Fritz: he took her village, hunted her for sport, spent the most powerful body that ever existed on his own borders, and then had her corpse eaten so the power would stay in his family. Every order given in the Paths for two thousand years is still his.
The Village He Took
Two thousand years ago his people come to a village that is not theirs, kill the ones they do not need and cut the tongues out of the ones they keep. The girl whose parents die that day grows up inside his household as property, with no name anybody bothered to write down and no will anybody thought to ask after. Everything the world will spend the next twenty centuries arguing about starts as a decision he made about a piece of land.
Released as Sport
When his pigs get loose he needs a culprit, and she is the one they name. He does not execute her: he has her turned out into open country and hunted with arrows, the way a good afternoon is arranged. She runs because running is the only thing left to do, and that is the errand she is on when she reaches the tree.
Thirteen Years of Conquest
What comes back out of the tree is the first Titan, and the first thing he does with it is give orders. For thirteen years the most powerful body that has ever existed lays bridges over mountains, breaks wasteland into farmland and wipes the armies of Marley off the ground in an afternoon. The Eldian Empire is built in that span, and not one stone of it is his own work.
He Took Her as a Concubine
The reward for building him an empire is to be taken into his bed. She bears him three daughters, and he gives them the names that will be carved into the world he is making: Maria, Rose and Sina. Nothing about the arrangement changes what she is to him — the Walls of Paradis are named after his children by a woman he never stopped owning.
He Fed Her Body to Their Daughters
A spear thrown at him is stopped by her body, which nobody ordered and nobody needed. He does not mourn her. He has the corpse brought to Maria, Rose and Sina and made them eat their mother so the power would not stop with her, and tells them plainly what their own end will be: their daughters will do the same to them. The thirteen-year inheritance every holder of the Nine serves out is a household rule he laid down that night.
Two Thousand Years of Orders
His death does not end his reign either. In the place where the Founder sits she goes on building Titans by hand, out of sand, every time somebody with his blood asks for one — the 145th king included, whose vow is just the last order in a queue that starts here. Royal blood commands the Founding Titan because the Founding Titan is still obeying him.
The Spear That Finally Reached Him
The last thing the story does with him is replay the night he was saved and let it go the other way. Ymir stands aside, the spear reaches him, and she turns away from the throne to her three daughters. He gets nothing else — no answer, no reckoning, no scene of his own. He simply stops being the reason anything happens.
