   Sasha's father, a hunter of Dauper who would rather change how his clan lives than watch it survive alone. He is unhurried, hard to provoke and impossible to argue out of a decision once he has reasoned his way into it — which is exactly how he lost his daughter to the military.

   The Argument That Sent Her Away

   With Wall Maria gone, refugees are hunting Dauper's forest and there is not enough game left. He proposes giving the forest up for fields and turning the hunters into horse breeders. Sasha says the newcomers looked down on them and have no right to it; he answers that living with people matters more than living as they always have. She enlists to spite him.

   She Turned Out Splendid

   Three years later Titans are inside Wall Rose and the clan is out on horseback getting people clear. He finds his daughter in the ruins with a child she has just pulled off a Titan's path, and he is visibly astonished that the one who did it was her. He gives them a horse and tells her she has turned out splendid, and she goes home.

   The Stranger at the Grave

   In 854 he brings the household to Sasha's grave. A young Marleyan prisoner is already there, and when the family has finished paying its respects he introduces himself: he cooked for the soldiers, she ate more of his food than anyone, and he would like to cook for them one day. Artur accepts, and the invitation is how Nicolo ends up at the same table as her killer.

   He Put the Knife Down

   Nicolo drags a beaten child into the dining room, tells the family this is who shot Sasha, and offers Artur a knife — saying he will do it himself if Artur will not. Artur takes the knife. Then he says it was he who sent his daughter out of one forest into a bigger one, and that carrying the sins and the hatred is the adults' job, so the children can get out. He hands the knife to his wife.

   He Told Gabi to Run

   A Titan finds the house they are sheltering in and the family scatters. Kaya falls behind, Artur turns back for her and is nearly eaten, and Nicolo pulls him out. It is Gabi who kills the Titan. When soldiers arrive to escort them all to safety, the man whose daughter she shot tells her to slip away and go find Falco the moment she can.
