A village girl of Wall Rose who watched a Titan eat her mother and was carried out of it by a soldier she had never met. She is quiet to the point of seeming unmoved, and she has decided, without telling anybody, exactly what kind of person she is going to become.
The Girl Sasha Came Back For
Her village empties when the Titans come inside Wall Rose, and she and her mother are left behind because her mother's legs will not carry her. She is still standing there watching it happen when Sasha Blouse takes her by the hand. The horse bolts, so Sasha sends her on alone and stays. She runs until she finds men with weapons, and sends them back.
The Stables Full of Orphans
She grows up at the Blouse stables among other children the war left over, kept by Artur and his wife on the queen's support. She takes the dogs out, works the yard, and does not make friends easily — which is why the household notices when two runaways she found in the woods turn out to be the exception.
What Did My Mother Do?
She heard the two of them arguing before she fed them, so she already knows what they are, and says so without turning them in. Then she walks them to the ruins of her village and asks the question: her mother never left this island in her life, so what exactly did she do to deserve being eaten? When Gabi answers with a thousand years of Eldian crimes, Kaya just asks it again.
She Wants to Be Like Sasha
Knowing the household has been invited to eat at a restaurant run by a Marleyan, she offers to take the two children along — it might be a way home for them. Asked why she would help an enemy who has just told her that her mother's death was deserved, she gives the only reason she has: Sasha stayed behind for a stranger, and she wants to be a person like that.
The Knife She Picked Up
At the table she finds out that the girl she has been feeding and defending for days is the one who shot Sasha. Artur refuses the knife Nicolo offers him and sets it down, and Kaya takes it off the table and goes for Gabi with it. A soldier catches her. Her adoptive parents have to hold her while she screams into their shoulders.
She Called Her Family
Fleeing a Titan she stumbles and is cornered in an alley, and the figure that kills it is the girl she tried to knife. When soldiers arrive and start asking why a Marleyan child is standing there, Kaya lies to their faces and says she is a Blouse. Afterwards the two of them argue about which of them is the devil, until Nicolo tells them everybody has one.
