   Pure Titans are mindless, humanoid giants that appear without warning and prey upon humans. They vary widely in height and shape, show no capacity for reason or speech, and pursue and devour people with brutal single-mindedness.

   The People Cast from the Seawall

   For decades, Marley turns the deportation wall on Paradis into a place of execution for Eldian prisoners. Public Security injects the condemned, pushes them from the stone and leaves their transformed bodies to wander toward the three Walls. Ymir and her cult suffer that sentence long before Grisha's Restorationists are brought there: the mindless giants on the island are not another species, but Subjects of Ymir stripped of their human bodies, identities and sense of time.

   Subjects of Hange's Experiments

   Hange Zoë captures two Pure Titans alive and names them Sonny and Bean after leaders of an old tribe said to have preyed upon travelers. Through attempts at communication, controlled exposure to pain, and close physical study, Hange observes that they appear dependent on sunlight for activity and that severed Titan limbs are far lighter than their size suggests.

   Respond to the Beast Titan's Command

   During the Wall Rose invasion, a group of Pure Titans suddenly halts its attack after receiving an order from the Beast Titan. They remain still until commanded again, then immediately converge on Mike Zacharias, revealing that their usual instinctive behavior can be interrupted by the Beast Titan's direct commands.

5. Revealed by S2·E2

   Appear in Ragako Village

   A group of Pure Titans appears in Ragako Village despite there being no visible breach in Wall Rose. The village is found deserted, except for an immobile Titan lying on top of a house that resembles Connie Springer's mother and utters a brief greeting as Connie approaches.

6. Revealed by S2·E12

   Follow Eren's Command

   A large group of Pure Titans abruptly changes its behavior after Eren Yeager issues a command. They immediately swarm the Smiling Titan and, after it falls, continue pursuing the Armored Titan and the Colossal Titan, ignoring their usual instinct to prey on nearby humans.

   Hange Links the Titans to Ragako

   After examining the evidence from Ragako Village, Hange Zoë concludes that the missing villagers and the Pure Titans that appeared there are connected. The discovery raises the disturbing possibility that the Titans humanity has fought for years may once have been ordinary people.

8. Revealed by S4·E13

   The Gas and the Scream

   The village on Wall Rose that woke up as Titans was not an accident and was not an outbreak. Marleyan soldiers walked in at night and released a gas laced with Zeke's spinal fluid over the houses, and in the morning he screamed. Every person in Ragako stood up as one of these, in their own beds.

9. Revealed by S4·E19

   The Army Inside the Army

   It turns out not to need a village. Three years of wine served to the officers first, one shout over Shiganshina, and a large part of Paradis's own command stands up as Titans in the middle of its own defence — including the man who had just led them to the front.

10. Revealed by S4·E30

    The Last Transformation

    The final one is the largest: gas over Fort Salta and every Eldian inside it turns at once, refugees and children and the people who had just been reunited with their families. Then Eren dies, and in the same instant every Titan that has ever been made is a naked human being standing in a field.
