    Jean brings two captured children and the news, and Armin runs with Mikasa to the airship's main room. Sasha is already on the floor.     Connie has taken Falco to Ragako to feed him to the Titan on the roof of his house. Armin cannot talk him out of it, so he climbs up and offers himself instead — a shifter for a shifter, and a friend rather than a child. It works, because Connie cannot let him do it.

    Armin and Connie enter the port with a lie meant to save the flying boat without killing anyone. Daz and Samuel uncover it; Samuel shoots Armin through the mouth and Daz reaches for the detonator. Armin still does not transform. Connie kills both former classmates before they can murder his friend and destroy the aircraft.

    In the Paths, Eren admits that he wanted the empty world in Armin's book and knew the Rumbling was monstrous while he carried it out. Armin condemns what his friend has done, but refuses to let him face it alone.     At Odiha, the flying boat needs minutes the advancing Wall Titans will not give it. Hange names Armin the fifteenth commander of the Survey Corps and goes out alone to buy that time.     The Leaf in the Paths

    Captured inside the Founder, Armin wakes in the Paths beside Zeke. He cannot defeat Zeke's belief that life only multiplies suffering, so he remembers running with Eren and Mikasa, leaves underfoot and stones skipping across water. Those useless moments make Zeke want one more game of catch — and together they wake the dead Titan holders who can change sides.

    The Titans that changed sides pick him up and hold him in their hands so he can do it from close enough — the boy he ate among them. Armin transforms inside Eren's body. The explosion that opened this story at Shiganshina is the one he uses to end it.

    At Fort Salta the Eldians turn back into people surrounded by Marleyan soldiers who want proof they will not turn again, and the alternative on offer is executing all of them on the spot. There is no proof to give. Armin gets between the two crowds and argues them down with nothing but words — the only weapon he ever actually preferred.

    Three years after the Rumbling, Armin sails toward Paradis with the former Scouts and Warriors as ambassadors of the surviving world. The island has spent those years arming under the Yeagerists, and the delegation has no guarantee it will be heard.
