The Door of Hope
He was not the best candidate at anything. He got the Armored Titan because Marcel talked the selectors out of choosing his own brother and talked Reiner up in his place, to keep Porco alive. Reiner spent eleven years believing he had earned it, and being the only reason his mother's plan had worked.
Marcel Takes His Place
On the night the Warriors reach Paradis, the Pure Titan that was once Ymir bursts from the ground and lunges for Reiner. Marcel shoves him out of its path and is seized instead. Reiner can only watch as the comrade who saved him is devoured in his place, leaving him alive to continue the mission at Marcel's expense.
Leaves Marco to Be Eaten
During the battle for Trost, Marco overhears Reiner and Bertholdt discussing the Titans as weapons under their control. Reiner restrains him, orders Annie to remove his maneuvering gear and leaves him before an approaching Titan. Only after Marco is devoured does Reiner's soldier identity resurface and ask why the boy is being eaten — exposing how completely his divided self has swallowed the murder he ordered.
Choosing the Survey Corps
After earning a place among the top graduates of The 104th Cadet Corps, Reiner Braun relinquishes the safer path toward the Military Police and chooses continued service against the Titans. The decision reinforces his reputation as a soldier willing to remain near danger rather than retreat behind comfort or rank.
Clash with the Female Titan
During the 57th Expedition Outside the Walls, Reiner Braun confronts the Female Titan after Armin Arlert and Jean Kirstein are placed in grave danger. His intervention draws the threat away long enough to preserve his comrades’ lives, marking him as a soldier who acts decisively under overwhelming pressure.
Defends Castle Utgard
During the Assault on Castle Utgard, Reiner Braun joins the desperate defense against a relentless wave of Pure Titans. Reveals His Identity to Eren

Battles Eren as the Armored Titan

Takes Refuge in the Forest of Giant Trees
After escaping with Eren Yeager, Reiner Braun takes refuge in the Forest of Giant Trees alongside Bertholdt Hoover and Ymir. As they wait, he holds tense conversations with Eren and Ymir, revealing an increasingly conflicted state of mind as he struggles to reconcile the weight of his actions with the mission he insists on completing.
Loses Eren During the Rescue Operation
Reiner Braun attempts to escape with Eren Yeager and Ymir, resisting the relentless pursuit of the 104th Cadet Corps and the Scout Regiment. Despite his efforts, Eren is ultimately recovered during the rescue operation. Reiner withdraws alongside Bertholdt Hoover and Ymir, abandoning the attempt to take Eren with them.
Survives Levi's Ambush
Reiner hides inside a cavity in Wall Maria until the Scouts expose him. Levi cuts through his neck and drives a second blade into his chest before he can transform, but Reiner transfers his consciousness through his body and survives long enough to fall from the wall and become the Armored Titan. The ability turns a killing blow into the first move of the Warriors' trap.
Survives the Thunder Spears
Hange's squads tear open the Armored Titan with Thunder Spears and destroy Reiner's head above the jaw. He survives again by moving his consciousness out of the brain and into the Titan body, then passes his memories through its nerves while his human head regenerates. The Scouts believe they have killed him; the roar that follows is his signal for Bertholdt.
The Cart Titan Takes Him Back
The last Thunder Spear blasts Reiner from the nape and leaves him alive but helpless in Hange's custody. Jean delays the execution by proposing that a dying Scout inherit the Armored Titan, and the pause is enough: the Cart Titan returns through the district, seizes Reiner and carries him beyond the wall before the serum can be used on him.
The Body Between the Guns
Four years into Marley's war in the east he breaks what is left of Fort Slava's emplacements, then holds his own body between the harbour guns and Zeke while the enemy fleet strips the armour off him piece by piece. His thirteen years are nearly up, and the children working the trench below him as medics are there to be looked at: one of them inherits the Armored Titan when they end.
The Gun in His Mouth
Home in Liberio with a medal and a family that thinks he is a hero, he sits alone in a room and puts a rifle under his chin. The knock at the door is Falco, come to fetch him for a friend from the hospital who wants to say goodbye. He puts the gun down and goes.
The Friend Waiting Downstairs
The friend is Eren Yeager, sitting in a cellar under Liberio with one leg, having spent months inside Marley being brought the news by a child. Reiner is the confirmation the raid needed and the person Eren wanted to look at first. What Eren tells him is that they are the same.
He Got Up for the Children
He is unconscious in the rubble of the plaza with nothing left to get up for, and what gets him up is Gabi and Falco screaming for him to save Galliard. The Titan that comes out has no armour on it at all. It is the least of him and it is enough to take Eren off Porco.
The Boy Who Took His Place
He spent the whole season quietly steering Falco toward the Armored Titan so that Gabi would not get it — the same thing Marcel did for a brother, done by a man who did not know that was what had been done to him. In Shiganshina the boy transforms anyway, and it is Porco who pays for it.
Sealed Inside His Own Armour
Eren does not kill him in Shiganshina. He hardens the Armored Titan shut around him instead, until it is a statue standing upright and holding nothing, and then climbs out of his own nape and runs past it on foot. Reiner spends the turning point of the war conscious and sealed inside the thing eleven years of his life were spent earning.
They Woke Him and Told Him
The alliance is made in a field outside Shiganshina by people who have spent four years killing each other's friends — Hange and Levi on one side, Magath and Pieck on the other. Reiner is in the room for none of it, because he is unconscious. When the terms are settled they wake him up and tell him what he has been enlisted into.
He Said Marco's Name Out Loud
At the fire the alliance eats around, Yelena goes from person to person reminding each of them what the others did, and the one that lands is Marco. Reiner takes responsibility out loud and then keeps going, laying out what carrying it has cost him — and Jean, who has no interest in how bad he feels, gets up and starts hitting him. Gabi takes the punch meant for her cousin.
He Went Back Across the Sea
He arrives at Fort Salta on the side of the island's soldiers, in front of the Eldians of Liberio who watched him sail away as a hero eleven years ago and are now watching him fight for the people who took their city. His mother is in that crowd, and she does not understand what she is looking at.
Nobody Forgave Him
He fights the whole last battle without being absolved of anything by anyone, holding the Founder's spine back while it is being torn apart. He does not die and he does not get told it is all right. He survives into the peace, still carrying the gate he broke when he was a child soldier.
